Volunteer Spotlight: Martin

To highlight the contribution of our volunteers, we’ll be regularly including a reflection from a volunteer on the News section of our website.

Martin, one of our longest standing volunteers and Lead for our weekly music club (seen in situ with Angel at our Open Day), had this to say:

“I began volunteering at DCRS over 10 years ago, when I started working part-time in my paid job. I have always been interested in foreign travel, language and culture. So, when I discovered there was an organisation in Plymouth which supported asylum seekers, I thought this would be an interesting place to offer some time to.

I intend to continue in my role for the foreseeable future. It is a pleasure to work with the young, talented staff and the friendly volunteers. I value the donations we get in the form of musical instruments and art equipment. But first and foremost, I get so much satisfaction from being a part of trying to make any day a bit brighter for our service users.”
