Standing Together: DCRS Supports PDREC on International Women's Day 2024
On International Women's Day 2024, we joined hands with the Plymouth and Devon Racial Equity Council (PDREC) at the Sherwell Centre, University of Plymouth, for a day filled with celebration and inspiration. The theme, "Inclusion and Inspire," echoed our mission at Devon and Cornwall Refugee Support (DCRS), where we strive to embrace diversity and solidarity.
The day was packed with fun activities like henna, jewelry making, and art bag workshops, along with delicious food from the Plymouth Jollof Kitchen, showcasing our community's rich culture.
We were honored to hear from inspiring women like Isatta Kallon, Dr. Pene Key, and others who shared their stories of resilience and determination.
In the spirit of solidarity, we also joined the Palestine Protest in Plymouth. On this special day, we remembered those who have passed away and supported the courageous women fighting for freedom and justice in places like Palestine, Sudan, and Congo.
By coming together with PDREC and participating in the Palestine Protest, we showed that we believe in the power of unity and support for everyone. We know that fighting for racial equity, refugee rights, and gender equality go hand in hand. Together, we can make sure every woman feels respected and included.
Let's keep the spirit of inclusion alive as we move forward, supporting each other and building a brighter future together.
